Born in 1930 in Paris, France. She lives and works in Paris.

Having devoted herself to dance in her youth, Ode Bertrand then turned her attention to the visual arts. From the very beginning she opted for geometric abstraction, without having known a figuration period or trying other styles.

« Bringing chaos to order : this is the challenge Ode Bertrand has pursued in her creation. Student, assistant and confidante of the great Aurelie Nemours for thirty-five years, her work as a painter also falls within Concrete art, but with a different premise : while Nemours explored planes and colors, Bertrand was fond of lines, which she used as both sign and structure to subvert geometric figures defined around the golden ratio. Grid, maze, triangle…her works seem clean and ordered at first, yet to attentive viewers they reveal an unsuspected profusion and seem to throb with intrinsic life. »
