04 : ABOUT THE EXHIBITIONArtist Javier León Pérez chose IMMERSION as the title of his first exhibition in the Art’loft, Lee-Bauwens gallery, representing a meditative metaphor for his creation process. For each piece, the artist lives a deep experience that he wants to share with visitors.
For the exhibition, Javier collaborated with his brother MJ León to create a sound installation “Gate #01 : Immersion”. The music with its instrumental and natural sounds, gives the visitor the unique experience of the spiritual and meditative atmosphere in which the artists immerses himself for his act of creation
(music preview here).
In his work with paper or for his sketches, the detailed, almost obsessive process and the eternal repetition of small elements covering the surface act as a mantra. For the visitor, the initial impact of powerful colours or the monochrome palette combined with tactile textures of paper, graphite or ink turn it into a complete sensory experience. The viewer’s eyes explore the surface and discover the different densities, quantities and the contrasts between light and shadow.
Javier León Pérez’s abstract monochrome pieces monochromes flow in a rhizomatic movement, immersing the visitor in an imaginary world that we can name “El pliegue del tiempo” (The fold of time) in the artist’s native language.
